Annual Chili fundraiser
Tue. Dec 6th 2016

We would like to thank everyone who attended our annual chili fundraiser Sunday December 4th. We are very grateful for your generosity and enjoyed visiting with you.

Your donations will help us equip our fire fighters with new personnel protective equipment. This gear will replace current protective clothing made over 20 years ago.

Thanks to you, we were able to replace a 1968 brush truck with a 2005 military 5-ton and equip it with up to date fire fighting equipment.

Your donations enable us to attend training that will make us better firefighters and help us save lives. A couple of years ago I attended the Abilene Fire Conference. They were offering a smoke reading class so I signed up. About a week after the class we were dispatched to a warehouse fire.

The fire was running along the rafters of the roof and we were doing everything we could to get to it. We made entry into the east side of the building while thick black smoke was pouring out of the building. We made entry and all of a sudden the smoke began to suck back into the building. I knew right then we had very little time to get out. I made the call to back out and as soon as my partner and I cleared the stairs something exploded.

It took several departments and several man hours to get this fire out. On overhaul, we came across an acetylene tank that had exploded exactly where I was standing. That class and donations from people just like you, saved my life.

We are grateful for everyone of you and would like to thank you for supporting us.

We want to thank Double Diamond Signs, KTXS, Rowe's Diesel Service, Air Evac, Texas Forest Service, Randall Williams and the Precinct 1 County Barn Crew, View Baptist Church, Nancy Moore from Tye, and Laura Covalesky.

We want to thank anyone we may have missed that donated items or time.

Sincerely,

     View VFD.
